Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should I get SASE certified?

There are so many personal and professional reasons to become SASE certified.

Becoming SASE certified may not be as easy as ABC, but it’s absolutely worthwhile! With the realization that the current network architecture and disparate security point solutions are simply inadequate to support the needs of the modern business, Gartner introduced SASE in 2019, predicting that “by 2024, at least 40% of enterprises will have explicit strategies to adopt SASE, up from less than 1% at year-end 2018.” And although SASE is relatively new, COVID-19 has further expedited its adoption due to the compelling need for business continuity strategies that address the explosion of remote access. In fact, according to Gartner, since June 2020 “SASE has been adopted by more than 40% of global remote workers.”

In light of Gartner’s market estimations, a SASE certification is no longer just a “nice-to-have”; but mostly it’s becoming a must-have, for demonstrating networking and security capabilities and benefits that are relevant and aligned with the industry’s direction.

  • How do I get started?

To achieve Cato’s certification, you need to apply to the Cato SASE/SSE course(s) and pass the certification exam with a minimum score of 85%. We assume you have some knowledge of cloud, networking and security.

    Prerequisites:

IT pros, Networking Engineers, System Administrators, Information Security pros, Cybersecurity pros, Security Engineers, CIOs, CISOs, etc.

    Required prerequisites:
    – While there are no prerequisites necessary to sign up for SASE Expert Level 1 or SSE Expert, we do assume that you possess a basic understanding of cloud, networking and security.

  • Which certifications are right for me?

While there is no “one-size-fits all” recommendation, we do have some suggested course tracks based on your position, which we’ve highlighted above.

Ultimately, it will depend on your R&R in your organization, your professional and personal interests, time and motivation level.

Because each certification course can be completed in just a few hours, we do recommend taking as many courses as possible, to deepen your understanding of SASE’s architecture, use cases, value, deployment and management, and business impact.
